What does the image compressor do?

It reduces JPG, PNG, and WebP file size by adjusting quality, output format, or maximum width. Compare the original and result before downloading only the version you need.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose images

Process one image, or select up to 50 in the batch tab.

  2. 2

    Choose a compression target

Set quality directly or choose a target file size. You can also change the output format and maximum width.

  3. 3

    Compare and save

Review the preview and actual file size, then save one image or a ZIP archive.

Processing and limitations

  • Quality and file size

Lower quality generally means a smaller file, but text and edges may blur. For photos, start around 80% and compare.

  • Target KB

The browser tries multiple quality values to find the highest quality under the target. Large dimensions can make the target unreachable.

  • Supported formats

JPG, PNG, and WebP inputs are supported. PNG may not shrink much through quality alone, so WebP can be a better choice.

  • File limits

Each file can be up to 25MB, 24 million pixels, and 12,000px on either side. Output encoders depend on browser support.

Images stay inside your browser

Decoding and compression use temporary memory in the current tab. Originals are not saved to the server or browser storage, and temporary data is released when you reset or close the tab.

Frequently asked questions

Can the result be larger than the original?

Yes. A file that is already compressed, or a re-encoded PNG at the same dimensions, can become larger. Always compare the result size.

Will the result match the target size exactly?

Not always. The tool finds the highest available quality below the target, and some images cannot reach it without reducing dimensions.

Is transparency preserved?

PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPEG cannot, so transparent areas are placed on a white background.
