Processing rules and limitations

  • Supported syntax

CommonMark plus GFM tables, task lists, strikethrough, and automatic links are supported.

  • HTML and links

Raw HTML is not executed. Unsafe URLs and relative links without a base URL are disabled.

  • Images and files

Remote images are not loaded automatically. UTF-8 text files up to 2 MiB can be opened.

  • Rendering differences

GitHub-only extensions, Mermaid, math, footnotes, and syntax highlighting are not supported in this version.

Markdown stays in your browser

Source text and selected files are processed in temporary memory in this tab and are not sent to a server or browser storage. Remote images are blocked to prevent unintended tracking requests.

Frequently asked questions

Will it look exactly like GitHub?

No. It supports CommonMark and the listed GFM features, but GitHub-specific extensions and visual styling can differ.

Can Markdown contain HTML?

Raw HTML is not executed or converted into active DOM elements for security.

Why is an image not displayed?

Version 1 blocks image requests so a Markdown document cannot silently contact an external server.

Is my file uploaded?

No. UTF-8 file reading and preview rendering happen only in the current browser tab.
